Testimonials from Students and Families: Past and Present

"My daughter is a fourth grade cyber student in Mrs. McClain’s class. She LOVES her! She has had her for cyber math since second grade and is just thrilled to have her full time this year. Mrs. McClain makes class so much fun for her students every day and ALWAYS goes above and beyond! Although we both miss physically being at Rowan, our experience with the cyber program so far this year has been fantastic. With things changing by (what seems like) the minute, the District has been doing an amazing job with adapting to this whole new way of life and learning. My daughter is having a great time this year and told me that she is actually really liking cyber! This is a big change from the spring when she was unsure about being fully remote. In the spring, she would hesitate to participate in TEAMS meetings. However, she has now gained confidence and is fully engaged with her teachers and classmates. Seneca’s cyber program is amazing! It has offered a consistent learning model for my daughter and our family during uncertain times and we thank you.
In addition to Mrs. McClain, my daughter is also in Purpose with Mrs. Hester and recently moved up in her accelerated math program to 5th grade math with Mr. Weltner. Her teachers, both past and present, are wonderful and we are blessed to be a part of Seneca Valley!
Thank you so much for all you are doing for our children and community."

"Thank you so much for selecting my child as the student of the month.  Our family are so excited to hear the news. She has really dedicated herself to working with changes as we all know can be difficult. She has shown me a confidence level I have not seen before. It warms my heart to see her proud of her work. I am delighted to hear her Team sees the same progress. She has come an incredible distance and she is a wonderful example of having successful teams at SV. The Falcon team teachers have gone above and beyond to help students adjust to extremely complicated times. This team gives a sense of normalcy at a time that is needed most. I genuinely thank you for your contribution to her success. We are lucky to have the Falcon Team!!"

"I just wanted to take a moment to say how happy we are with Ms. Schultz! My daughter is in her PM class and she is glued to every word, song, activity, etc., that Ms. Schultz conducts. I really feel that she is making friends with some of the kids (and this was my biggest concern about going virtual) and although it's not as exactly the same as socializing in person, it gives me peace of mind that she is getting the interaction she needs. Alex loves getting to participate and really looks forward to her small group sessions.  I know this is a buzzword right now, but I really feel that Alex feels "seen" and it's because of the way Ms. Schultz runs her sessions.
Personally, I have told Ms. Schultz on several occasions that I don't know when she sleeps! I have never seen her have an off-day. Her positive attitude, energy and dedication to the kids is truly unmatched. She is so creative and bright! I appreciate all of the emails and newsletters that keep us informed as well (love the graphics!). She has a wonderful work ethic and makes everything look effortless. I guess this means she loves her job!
I look forward to my next daughter having her as a teacher!  Keep up the good work everyone!

"Our family transferred to Seneca Valley School District two years ago after nine years at (a parochial school) for the sole purpose of getting my youngest child Helaina the necessary help needed and for her to grow and catch up with her peers. Helaina was diagnosed with a speech development delay for which she was receiving therapy for a total of six years at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
My purpose of this email is in regarding my second eldest child, Ava, a sixth grader who has bee
n enrolled in cyber full time for the past two school years. We enrolled her after speaking with Heather Lewis who had nothing but positive things to say about the program. Ava attends Pittsburgh Ballet House under the direction of Kwang Suk-Choi and Sae Young Kang.  She attends classes there six days and week and has been training for ballet competitions to include Youth America Grand Prix for the past two years. Ava was honored to have placed third in the 2018 pre-competition level and was invited to YAGP NYC Finals. YAGP NYC Finals is in NYC where you compete against approximately 150 kids in your category to include state wide as well as international students. Ava was honored to have placed first in the 2019 pre-competitive level in classical ballet and was invited to YAGP NYC Finals again. This program has allowed her to have a flexible schedule and be able to travel and have as many opportunities we can fit in with our family that we normally wouldn’t be able to do with traditional school. We would like to give a big thank you to Matt Pournaras who has been nothing but a constant positive, nurturing teacher and mentor throughout this entire process.  It saddens us we have to leave Evans City Middle School and no longer have him as a teacher and advisor. Our family would like to thank the entire staff of SVSD to include but not limited to Matt Pournaras,  Michelle Steinmetz, secretaries Carla Wright & Kendra Bertoti (your kindness and friendliness always appreciated)  and Seneca Valley Academy of Choice for the amazing opportunities Ava has been able to have with this program and the constant support."

"So far, our son has really liked the Mandarin Chinese class.  He's enjoying what he's learning, and the fact that he can go at his own pace really works for him. Plus, the content is very interesting to him, and it is presented in a good format. I don't know of any other school district that has this option available.  It's one more reason that we love Seneca!! The Mandarin class is the third cyber class we've experienced and we have been very happy with the program.  We're so thankful that our kids are able to take advantage of these opportunities at Seneca!!"

"I love cyber, I work at my own pace, get the attention I need without the distractions and get all the learning of public education."

“Given EVERYTHING, I need to send some shout outs to our Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Schultz! She is lovely, and pretty much everything a parent could ask for in terms of a cyber teacher. She has given our children attention that is above and beyond what I expected, or anticipated.  I was fully expecting to give his teacher grace and space, and as it turns out, she hit the ground running, and it is so clear to me that she data-driven and student-focused.

So, thank you for what you do, and thank you to Ms Schutlz!”

"My daughter did both her PE Cyber and Honors Algebra 2 through cyber. I was a little apprehensive about Algebra, but she did well. It was good to know she was keeping busy and doing her studies, instead of being distracted this past month. It was such a help for a working parent like me! I am so glad that you have this option in Seneca Valley. I think it is great enrichment for the kids."

"Thank you again for meeting with my son and me today and for giving us such a fantastic tour! I was very thrilled to see so many computer, robotics and engineering classes and opportunities. The teachers were fantastic too. I think we made a great choice for my son with him being in SVAOC and I'm excited for him to get started. It's awesome this program has lots of flexibility and amazing classes."
