Seneca Valley Academy of Choice (SVAOC) is pleased to have a highly trained and well respected international dancer as the director of the ballet program for the district’s performing arts dance program.

Kwang-suk Choi, artistic director and founder of the Pittsburgh Ballet House in Cranberry Township, heads up the SVAOC Ballet Program, which is offered to students in grades 7-12, at no cost to families. Physical education credits can be applied to this program.

Originally from South Korea, Kwang-suk Choi  graduated with a master's degree in physical education from Saejong University in Seoul, South Korea. He guest danced with the Isehara Ballet in Japan and was a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Korea from 1990 to 1994, and was a foundation member with the Seoul Ballet Theatre. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT), he danced with the Atlanta Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre and Cleveland San Jose Ballet. He has danced principal roles in Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, Coppelia and Carmina Burana, and has choreographed a ballet titled, “Happiness of Land.” Mr. Choi was promoted to the rank of principal for his seventh season with PBT. In addition to being the founder and instructor at the Pittsburgh Ballet House, he is currently on staff with Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts.
